20 Years of Enjoying Talent on Loan From God

When contemplating Rush’s career I am reminded of the Parable of the Talents, no pun or sacrilege intended. His talent truly is on loan from God and he has not squandered it, but developed it to its fullest potential.

So, here’s to Rush, for twenty years of broadcasting excellence and for being a loving and generous brother and uncle to my children. Sincere, heartfelt, congratulations.

I am always encouraged by those celebrities who speak out for the Lord. Not sure Rush falls into that category but certainly in NASCAR Mark Martin, Dale Jarrett and Joe Nemechek do.

(Posted this in the wrong place - on the discussion of infant baptism)

I think you are right mom. David may appear to be a bit sloppy with his application of scripture to Rush but I think we can afford him these points in grace:

1. He is publicly congratulating his brother.
2. Rush has always at least given credit to God for his talent and that it is only on loan. To be rescinded at any time. (It nearly was with the hearing loss)
3. It is possible if Rush is not a believer that David hits him with the gospel privately every chance he gets. (I think David may be a believer)

Yeah, I always thought what Rush had that Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage do not is an independent functioning brain. I read somewhere (I think NRO) where William Bennett helped Rush early on in getting him a philosophical foundation to make informed opinions (turning him to Bill Buckley, etc.) and you can tell. Hannity will just have his 2 sentence talking point and Rush will have a nuanced stance. I remember hearing Hannity go off on flag burning once, and when someone pointed out even Scalia thought it was protected in the First Amendment, Hannity had no idea how to adjust that a hero of his might disagree with him. Rush on the other hand can talk about that and economics and make you know he knows what the heck he's talking about.
