Dan, I think that Evangelical Christians especially could use the perspective of the saints that have gone before. We need that connect to ground us. I have know some to leave the "Evangelical" churches in search of things with a deeper sense of history. (i.e. Greek Orthodox etc.) I have heard other comments from some that seems to suggest that Church history started in 1517 with the Reformation. Anything before that is illegitimate they seem to think. I think the more we ground ourselves in Scripture and keep in touch with our history we defend against being shallow and sucked in by current cultural trends!

Aaron, that is a very good question. It is interesting of course.
What do you think?
